 The US has launched further attacks on Iran tonight, following yesterday's strikes on Bandar Abbas and Sirik Island. Tonight, the US is targeting Chabahar and Abu Musa Island—locations that are strategically significant due to their proximity to the Strait of Hormuz. Iran is expected to retaliate soon, having struck 85 US military assets in the region yesterday. Trump has verbally declared the Swiss MOU void and stated he has no desire to deal with Iran; he alone will bear responsibility for this reckless stance. Treating the Swiss MOU as terminated effectively signals a shift into a new state of war with Iran, automatically nullifying all existing agreements, including the Iran nuclear deal. If Trump considers the Swiss MOU void, Iran could revert to its initial stance: completely closing the Strait of Hormuz and potentially shutting down the Bab al-Mandab Strait should US attacks persist. Iran could also resume missile strikes against US and Israeli interests—including vital infrastructure—across Gulf nations. This would immediately trigger global turmoil, including a sharp spike in energy prices. This new escalation stems from the US's insistence on intervening in the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's unwavering determination to maintain total control over the waterway. Trump and Netanyahu refuse to accept the reality that Iran holds full control over the Strait of Hormuz and cannot be subdued. This is the root of the current escalation: Iran is asserting its sovereignty over the strait, while the US attacks in a refusal to accept this reality. Trump’s reckless withdrawal from the Swiss MOU reveals a lack of mental stability, clarity, and strategic foresight. The US will soon pay a heavy geopolitical and military price for the rash decision to declare the Swiss MOU void. What the US fails to realize is that it is not winning the war against Iran; even in defeat, it remains arrogant and in denial—unable to rationally accept the reality of the situation. The US and Israel are currently taking a gamble by contemplating a return to war; Iran is now far stronger than it was during the conflict forty years ago—a reality that leaves the US and Israel frustrated as they seek a way to permanently resolve the conflict. Currently, the Defense and Security Commission of the Iranian parliament is set to deliberate on the country's position regarding a potential withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). They have also threatened to immediately shift Iran's nuclear doctrine—moving straight toward the pursuit of nuclear weapons—should the US and Israel seek a pretext to go to war with Iran again.
